How user account hacked?

Facebook said that the hackers stole the 'access token' and hacked the accounts of the users. Access tokens are in a way digital-enabled, with the help of which the user is always logged in to a device. He does not have to give a username and password repeatedly. 
Facebook said that after knowing about this, 9 crores users will reset their account, due to which these users will have to log in again. At the moment, access tokens of 5 million users have been reset.

Cambridge Anilika used this data to win Donald Trump in the 2016 US presidential election. After which Facebook suffered a lot and many times Mark Zuckerberg had apologized for this.
